Snow, Snow, Snow.
The 34th Snow Polo World Cup in St. Moritz was held this weekend (26–28 January 2018). The event was popular as ever, and once again proved to be high goal action par excellence.
Some 15,000 spectators from around the globe enjoyed free admission to watch the world’s only high-goal polo tournament on snow. Demand for tickets for the VIP tent on Saturday and Sunday was exceptionally high, and the exclusive Polo Gala night was also sold out.
Four top-tier teams once again competed for the coveted Cartier Trophy. Rommy Gianni (1) and his top-class Team Cartier (the winner of 2016 and 2017) with Chris Hyde (5), Dario Musso (6) and Juan Cruz Greguoli (4) at his side. Team Badrutt’s Palace Hotel captained by Melissa Ganzi (0), with Tito Gaudenzi (2), and Alejandro Novillo Astrada (8).
Zhanna Bandurko (0), in Team Maserati with Robert Strom (5), Gerardo Mazzini and Hissam al Hyder (both 6). Team Azerbaijan Land of Fire captained by Elchin Jamalli (3) with Rashad Hasanov (2), Lala Laplacette (5) and Adrian Laplacette Jr. (6).
Following the matches played on Friday and Saturday the two finalists were decided. On Sunday it was Rommy Gianni’s Cartier who once again played their long-term opponents Maserati in the final and for the third year running came out the victors to take the Cartier Trophy. Azerbaijan Land of Fire won the Deutsche Bank Wealth Management Challenge 2018 in the runners up match.
