HPA National Club Championships.
Following the semifinals of the HPA National Club Championships, which took place on Friday, Sunday saw the grand final and subsidiary final of this highly regarded Arena Polo tournament played at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club. The event showcased five 15-goals teams and is played under the Arena Polo HPA rules.
The group stage saw Four Quarters narrowly lose against GA Polo Holidays (16-17) but win against Regal Warriors (19-18). Regal Warriors did better against VPS Healthcare Sifani winning 21-17 putting them through to the semifinals to play Tchogan who had also won against Sifani (15-12) but lost against GA Polo Holidays (17-19). So the other semifinal was a rematch between Four Quarters and GA Polo Holidays.
This time fortunes were reversed and it was Four Quarters that went through to the final to play against Tchogan who were the winner of the other semi.
The subsidiary final was played between VPS Healthcare Sifani and GA Polo Holidays. There was a line up change for Sifani when Jamie Morrison substituted Ryan Pemble. The two teams had not played against each other in the earlier stages and it was Sifani that ran out the winner with a score of 25-19.
The final was played at 2pm and saw Four Quarters come up against Tchogan for the first time. But Four Quarters proved to be the stronger team on the day with a score of 17-11 making them worthy winners.
