Guards Season Ender

Guards Season Ender.

The Autumn Nations Tournament at Guards started on 30 August and runs to Sunday 17 September. It is the final 12-goal tournament of the season at the Guards Polo Club, Windsor, offering great sport and friendly rivalry on the field of play. This end of season tournament is considered by the professionals to be a final chance to make a impression to potential patrons before the Club closes for the winter.

Matches are being played every day this week (bar Tuesday) with the final scheduled for Sunday afternoon. It is a great opportunity to see some of the UK’s top players in action. Ryan is playing in Jonnie Hare’s Harum Scarum Polo Team alongside Ed Banner-Eve (2 goals) and Federico Boudou who is also 5 goals.

See the likes of Jack Richardson playing off 6 goals who was Young Polo Player of the Year in 2014, Richard Le Poer who is also 6 goals, and 5 goalers Will Emerson, Chris Hyde, Tom Morley and Matt Perry. Other great talent includes Henry Fisher, Ed Hitchman, Tommy Beresford, Michael Henderson and Jonny Good who all play off 4 goals. Many of these players have played the high goal, so there is some exceptional talent on display.

The best day is Wednesday, Quarter Finals Day, with four matches scheduled throughout the afternoon. Check Guard’s website for times and grounds. Coworth has been used for many of the league matches to date, but the final on Sunday will be at Guards.

Today (Monday 11 Sept) sees the last of the league matches with Harum Scarum playing at 11am against Tempus, and Mad Dogs playing Tayto at 12.30. Both matches are at Coworth.
