The Archie David

The Archie David Cup.

The UK’s leading 8-goal tournament which always attracts an outstanding number of teams. Due to such high entries teams have to be at the top of their game in every match to ensure that they go through to the final stages of this prestigious competition. This year 27 teams have entered the tournament which runs from 5 June to 28 June. Ryan is in the Los Lobos team that won the Committee Cup at Guards in May: David Lewis -1, Andrew Dechet 1, Roddy Matthews 3, and Ryan Pemble 5 goals.

The tournament is named after Major Archie David, one of the founders of the Guards Polo Club back in 1955. He was the patron of the Friars Park polo team and also became the first president of Ham Polo Club in 1957. The Archie David Cup forms part of the Victor Ludorum 8 goal championship. Five tournaments make up the championship with a scale of points awarded for entry, winning the quarter finals, semi-finals, finals and subsidiaries. The team that has accumulated the highest total of points wins the championship.
